10 Yoga Poses To Manage Hypothyroidism


In 2016 I found out that I was severely Hypothyroid.

Many years of neglecting my body made it angry and it had begun lashing out furiously. My poor thyroid glands were taking the brunt of it.

So, I spent many months feeling extremely tired and quite sorry for myself. I also found out that I had developed anxiety around this point.

It was then that I decided that it was time to take control.

I started by making very tiny changes. I removed sugar and processed foods. Began moving around a little bit everyday. I began to feel better.

Then, I made another good decision. I started taking yoga classes.

Yoga seemed to be able to help me care for my stressed body and mind. Lowered stress levels meant that my hypothyroid symptoms were not so severe.

Woohoo, I saw a silver lining. I was on the path to recovery

My yoga practice was not a magic-bullet cure all. But, it was a wonderful strategy to help me lower stress and become more mindful –  this was transformative.

Below I share the poses I feel super happy about including in my practice. I feel that extra bit of energy on the days I get them all.
